The 67 year old woman whose first baby is due this summer
Yesterday insisted she had conceived naturally.
Zlatija jovic said she got pregnant naturally after drinking water from a garden well & breathing fresh air.
She said she had not had IFV treatment despite years of trying for a baby with husband Miodrag. 53.
She said "I listened to the old women in the village who said I should just breathe the fresh air and drink the pure water from our well. I am convinced the water helped me get pregnant. I never wanted to have any medical treatment."
In January. Romanian Adriana 66. Became the world's oldest mum when she gave birth to a daughter after years of IVF.
Her case sparked a heated debate whether someone that age should being given that treatment.
Zlatija, From Gornje Brijanje in southern Serbia. Is expected to give birth in the early August.
Doctors in the nearby town of Leskovac described the pregnancy as "incredible and extraordinary" and said she would probably have a boy. And she kept the pregnancy secret at first for fear the attention could put her unborn baby at risk.
She said "I didn't want to say anything until bow because i was scared of how much attention it might bring and the strain it might put me and my unborn child.
" i didn't want to tell even my closest friends until i was pretty sure the pregnancy would be successful."
Zlatija said she is only interested in the health of her baby and not being the world's oldest mum.
" I only care about finally having a baby: that has been my dream for decades and until now we have never succeeded .: she added .
Zlatija and Miodrag first wed 30 years ago, divorced, then remarried in 1996. He said:" I have a daughter from anther marriage and tow grandchildren but this is special.
"Zlatija is in a great condition. She dose all the work in the house that she did before getting pregnant and even helps me out a bit on the farm. "I am overjoyed having a son. Men in Serbian villages always prefer having a son so they can inherit their farms."
Zlatija said " I will spend the rest of my pregnancy working a bit but generally just spending time with my family and , friends and neighbours " I will do everything to keep my baby. I hope god will help me as well. Because I have prayed a lot for this."
Relatives said everyone in the village was thrilled at Zlatija's pregnancy. One said we are all really excited.
